1965 Stanley
Fourty-four years ago, when Americans went to work with black steel domed luchboxes, and Stanley thermoses packed with coffee from home, my Grandfather paid CASH for his
Green Vacuum Bottle. It was a time when the American economy didn't need credit cards, fast food, or 'take-out' coffee.
It was a time when a diesel mechanic could support a family of six. When men went to work,
and children were raised by a loving mother and not a 'L.L.C.' A Stanley thermos full of steaming coffee to me is a symbol of America's prior values held by the World War 2 generation.
My Grandfather didn't own much, but what he had was quality and lasted. They drove the same car for decades, didn't buy what wasn't needed, and repaired versus threw away.
Durable goods and wise purchases led to a solid financial working man, in a time when people
always saved -each check- and in turn led to a solid nation. The fourty-four years that thermos was carried to the freight terminal let to surface dents and an out of round cup. Now I USE IT. I did purchase a new one in 2008, I use both and cannot tell a difference in performance.
This is America.
